This is the story of Dorothy and her little dog Toto, who are carried away from Kansas by a cyclone and transported to the wonderful world of Oz She meets three companions the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion and the three journey to the Emerald City of Oz to ask the Wizard of Oz to give them their hearts desires, which in Dorothy s case is to return home to Kansas On their way to Oz and while fulfilling the tasks that the surprising Wizard asks of them they encounter witches, winged monkeys, the Deadly Desert, fighting trees and magic shoes This edition is evocatively illustrated with the original drawings of W W Denslow which have been sensitively re coloured by Barbara Frith, one of Britain s leading colourists

This is a really awful recording So disappointing The voices are strange, the narrator goes off into considerable detail about some random things Also, there is just one track on the CD so if you turn it off, you have to go back to the start again. The CD may be closer to the book than the movie eg the dog called BoBo rather than ToTo and our big two ages 3 5 did enjoy it, but I think there must be a better recording out there.

Its not as good as Jungle book of the same series, this one was a bit long winded and my grand daughter lost a bit of interest

My son had been looking forward to this CD arriving for ages I put it on for bedtime and the first thing that was odd was the dog called BO BO and no it just wasn t the accent of the reader and then the good witch, the readers voice was so scarey that at first i thought it was meant to be the evil witch The voice was actually so inappropriate I had to turn it off my son was really quite frightened especially if this was meant to be the good witch I really am disappointed with this and although not a lot of money my son loves the film and thought this would be great to listen to at bedtime

If you are looking for a nicely done but VERY small copy of L Frank Baum s The Wizard of Oz , then this Collectors Library edition may suit your needs While this classic book needs no review, individuals seeking to purchase a copy of The Wizard of Oz may be interested in these observations Because the actual book measures 4 X 6 , the print is extremely small no larger than 8 point type If your visual acuity is less than perfect, you may have difficulty reading the print The actual book is lovely pages are clean cut and gold edged Illustrations, similar to line drawings, are appealing and nicely colored I would recommend this edition of The Wizard of Oz to individuals needing a very portable copy of the unabridged work For those who are building a library of classics, I recommend looking at other publishers offerings.

Beautiful edition of a classic, small enough for your purse or coat pocket Unfortunately, to make it small, the print is tiny Too hard on my old eyes Hence, four instead of five stars.
