A childhood standard revisited,by an author with a great eye for detail The library copy I remember had beautiful colour plates which added to the experience, sadly lacking via Kindle.I read it as a ten year old and would recommend it equally as a book to read to your class and by them A great introduction to an author of historical fiction for young adults.

of all the versions of Robin Hood I ve read, this is by far the best Rosemary Sutcliff approaches the story with her usual grace and common sense, bringing the characters to life and drawing the reader into their world.the story is the classic tale of Robin Hood, similar to J Walker McSpadden s and Howard Pyle s retellings, but told so elegantly and originally as to be entirely its own the forest and its outlaws come to life in a world full of fierce loyalties, strong friendships, and uncompromising love although this book surpasses all other Robin Hood stories in many ways, perhaps the most notable is the sincerity of the romance between Robin and Maid Marian Sutcliff s Marian is a strong character, neither a princess in an ivory tower or an , but a woman with a woman s strength although the romance takes a backseat to the rest of the story, it is no less powerful for that.all in all, a joy to read and re read.

Most of the stories about Robin Hood deal only with his love for Marian or about his fight with the sheriff of Nottingham, however, The Chronicles of Robin Hood takes us through to his death Very interesting easy read.
