This book does not try to, nor does it claim to tell you how to avoid tax or where the loopholes are currently It explains example of somewhat hidden taxes ordinary working people won t have thought about, even for people in early entrepreneurship might not have though too much past the surface of taxation Further the book briefly explains the history and politics which lead to the taxes which we have today. The book is gripping and every page has information you just want to share with your friends, or in my case, friend The book can be read at a basic knowledge of taxation and if you are at this stage, this book will give you a lot of information in simple terms in what can be a sometimes complex area If you re already familiar with taxes, this book can offer you comical stories and history of the taxes as they ve developed over the years. There are just two downsides of the book in my opinion First is the author tirelessly drilling in the Three Golden Rules of Tax, it could just be me being overscrupulous, but rather than explaining the rules every time they are mentioned, I would prefer This is an example of rule 3 Secondly the author s political bias sometimes comes through in the writing which is hard to tell if it is intended, the book would read better without having to critically think as to whether the material has agendas aside from explaining what I need to know about tax.

Really enjoyed it I find tax to be an interesting subject as a small business owner Never really understanding why we get taxed so much, turns out it s all just inherited from history What I would really enjoy is a sequel on how the taxes are spent as well and the efficiency in which it is spent After learning about how much every change in hand is taxed It would be interesting to know how it is spent in the hands of our government.

Well written and therefore comprehendiblewhich is than can be said for anything produced by HMRC A fascinating insight into the incompetence and hypocrisy of UK government tax policy and implementation It would be nice to see reference to the ways in which governments and local authorities abuse waste taxpayers money but there is reference to the Tax Payers Alliance, which regularly reports the bigger scandals.
